We trekked south this past weekend into the other Carolina. My friend Katie and I went for a hike in Table Rock State Park in South Carolina. Actually, it was a hike on the way down, but definitely more so a climb on the way up.
The trail to Table Rock itself is uphill the majority of the time. And to be honest, we made it to Governor’s Rock and then our legs said ‘Noooooope!’ The views definitely made it worth the climb though.
Traces of last year’s fire could be seen throughout the area. There is an eerie but cool combination of charred trees, fresh dirt, and new life. Nature is tough and definitely bounces back from trauma when humans are the minority in an area.
Flora and Fauna:
Despite rumors of bear sightings from other hikers on the trail that day, we were not as lucky. We did get to see some other critters and plants though.
